One of the most popular types of Iranian bread is Sangak bread, which has a thickness of 8 mm and the dough is puffed. This bread is also known as sourdough bread and in addition to being delicious, it has a very high quality compared to other breads. The way of preparing Sangak bread is popular in all cities of Iran.

Baking Sangak bread was popular in Iran before the arrival of Islam. According to an old story, in the Sassanid era, a doctor prescribed stone bread to a sultan who was suffering from a serious illness, to use bread baked on small hot stones.
